A sneak preview. I am stitching through some water-soluble fabric hence the muddle of stitched and drawn lines.
I posted my October page for Gayle this afternoon, so I do hope that it arrives soon, and that she likes it.

Gayle, at last your creature has been captured and secured into an envelope and will be posted tomorrow! Sorry for the delay, I'm having a problem catching up as my husband keeps getting admitted into hospital!! All OK with him but we live a distance away and it all takes from embroidery time. I tried to find a picture online of the inspiration but can't; I found a lovely book which has designs from old Greek embroideries so you have a Greek cockerel from a bridal cushion of Ioannina, a town in northern Greece, which has been converted into cross stitch by a very talented lady, The book was produced by the Benaki museum, Athens - if ever you get to Athens, don't miss this place!! Hope you enjoy my interpretation of her interpretation!

Here's a little peek of the creature I've created for you Gayle. A little over the deadline but the creature will be posted to you today.

A little note to Debi - Was wondering if you have received the 'Shabby Chic' page I created for you and posted last month? If you have I can post a picture here on the blog for the others to see if you've got your hands full at this time. I know how that can be, August was that way for me. Or else I'll have to begin on a replacement page.

An Elephant Named Mali

I'm glad that Gayle's page arrived safely.  Here is what I made for her:

My inspiration was a baby elephant born at the Melbourne Zoo in January.  Of course, all babies are cute, but I have a soft spot in my heart for elephants.  This is my first attempt at Stumpwork and I had a ball putting this little tyke together.  Her trunk and ears stand away from the cloth and she's just too cute!  Gayle, I almost did not send her - I lost my heart to her!
