Another Page for Juliette

I sent Juliette a page for her Seashore theme on June 19th. It never arrived. So I've made a second page and it will be in the mail next week Juliette. Hopefully, it will get to you. I did note that Maya received a page after two months so perhaps there is still hope for the first page. This one is completely different as I didn't have any of the same fabrics and materials to make the first one again. If anyone wants to see the first page, you can take a look at my latest post on my personal blog.

July Page for Carmen

Since I know that Carmen has received my page I made for her for July, I thought I'd post photos. This is done with machine embroidery (Carol Shinn style) and is based on a photo of the inside of Nunney Castle. I found the photo on the Internet and loved the play of shadows and light.

The back is pretty boring, just black felt but I needed something that wouldn't fray. The technique I used creates it's own edges and I didn't want to cover them up.

Here's a close up. I used tons of thread for this! I hope you like it Carmen.

Leaves

Ann the second page you created for me has arrived in Bangalore. After two months and given up as lost. The envelope had been opened but I don't thing anything has been lost.

Its a beautiful page Anne and I think the depiction of the four seasons is wonderful. When I saw the sneak peek of this page I was really excited and I can't tell you how disappointed I was when two months went by with no sign of it in the mail.

Wonder if the first page will reach me after all. Thank you Ann for this beautiful page.
Click here to see the third page Ann created for me because we thought the first two were lost forever.

Leaves from Gayle for June

This beautiful page from Gayle in California arrived about a week or ten days back and was waiting for me to get back from my travels.
Gayle has used Shibori techniques and Easter egg dyes to create this page. I really like the watercolour like effect you've achieved Gayle.

spoiled

Yes, I got spoiled. I received a gorgeous Art Nouveau page 2 days in a row.
I'm sorry that my scanner is out of order so I couldn't get the best images.
These don't do these beauties justice.
The first page is made by Mandy, I've included the backside, because its also lovely.
When you move the page you can see another image behind the top layer. I love that!
Thank you Mandy, it was well worth waiting for. Also many thanks for the goodies.
I love them all.

This page is made by Ann. I really hope you have a better picture of this, because this is the best I could do and that's a real pity. A minimum of color, lovely reliëf and perfectly stylished. Again a lovely backside which is pictured below. Thank you Ann.
I have to say I receive nothing but gorgeous pages in this swap. Its a real previlage to be part of this group. Thank you all.

Sneak Peak for Carmen

Here's a sneak peak for Carmen for her July castles page. It will be in the mail to you on Monday, Carmen.

I hope everyone is having a nice summer (or winter for those down under) and that you are letting everyone know how their pages are coming along. The blog has seemed a bit quiet and I'd love to see more photos of pages that we haven't seen yet. So do blog about your pages that you've received if you haven't done that yet. Or just let the maker know and they can post photos if you don't have time.

Thumbelina by Elizabeth

Some days ago I received the page done by Elizabeth.
Elizabeth choose the fairy tale "Thumbelina" by Christian Andersen. It is the story of a little girl size of a thumb which was born in a flower. In her life she experiences many adventures before falling in love with a prince just her size.

I hadn't in mind any more how nice this fairy tale was. Even if Thumbelina experiences some bad things the story is so lovely and cute. Just like the page Elizabeth created.

On the back side Elithabeth choose a fabric with birds. Birds or better to say a martin is a central element in the life of Thumbelina.

I like it very much! Thank you for this page.

Jugendstil for Cobi

Today I can show you a preview of the Jugendstil side for Cobi.

I managed to finish the side yesterday. The age of Art Nouveau began in drawings, then furnitures were created and finally fronts. For the fabric book page I choose an ornament of a front of Brühl.

My June Page from Chris

Here is the gorgeous silk paper page that I received from Chris. The page is off white and the colors in the photos are off and you really need to see it in person to see how beautiful it is. Thanks Chris!

Here's a close up. You can see some of the French knots giving the tree texture.

And here are the roots with more French knots.

Grrrrr......

I have known what technique I wanted to try for Maya's page for several months. Sounded easy enough, but....not so. I made several attempts before getting something that was passable. Maya, it went in the mail today, and I hope you have better luck receiving mine than some of the others. I know it's late, but my frustration level kept me from completing it sooner. Here's a picture of some of my failed attempts. Hope it arrives in record time for you.
Gayle

The Sea has arrived!

Now, isn't this delightful. I was thrilled to receive a package through my letterbox this morning from Liz. This is my June page - a little late, but it was well worth waiting for...........

All those lovely details.

I just love the beaded blue coral. The textures are just gorgeous.

Just look at the stitching on the seahorse. It looks like there are such stories he, or she could tell of adventures amidst the coral.

The fabric for the back of the page itself just could not have been more perfect.

And the letter from Liz, tells of the techniques she has used.
Oh Liz, I do agree about being near the sea. It is a magical place, with all the smells and sounds. I live right in the centre of Cheshire, a county almost in the heart of the UK. But you are right, a journey time of around an hour and a half will bring me to the coast. I am so fortunate.
Thanks so much for my page. I look forward to day when I can put all my lovely pages together and make them into a book. I intend to exhibit the book when it has been made, but do not know where, or when, just yet.

Carmen - It's on it's way

Wow, what a month I've had.  I've had to leave Nimbin because of major problems with the management of the place I was staying.  Long story so I won't go into it.  I'm now in Geelong in Victoria, looking for a unit for myself at the moment.  I have a mail redirection in place now so all mail sent to my Nimbin address will be redirected to me here in Geelong.

Carmen, I had lots of fun doing your page.  I mailed it off to you yesterday.  Sorry it's late.  I do hope you enjoy it.
