This is my January page from Kath. It is exquisite. The background is felt with some beading and stitching to add texture. It just speaks of the movement in the sea.
The signature on the back is simplicity itself.

I actually wetfelted the background but couldn't get merino wool here and didn't like the result so I needlefelted over it with bits of felting wool and threads then added couched threads and beads. Loved working it as I grew up in Scarborough, N.Yorkshire by the North Sea!
